Modern Cabin Company’s founder, Ed Hatcher, has over 25 years experience at the highest level of architecture, design and construction.

Ed grew up in the Sandpoint area, racing dirt bikes and working in his family's construction company before attending the University of Idaho for a Bachelor of Architecture degree, then off to UCLA for his Masters of Architecture. There he studied with his mentor, Pritzker Prize winning Architect Thom Mayne of Morphosis Architects, with whom he worked with for many years on award winning national and international projects. Ed has worked and travelled extensively around the world for many large international Architecture firms such as the Jerde Partnership and Aedas, forming a holistic view of the importance of design and its transformative ability.

Having moved back to where he grew up in the Sandpoint area, Ed has worked with many of the leading Architecture and design companies in the local area, including Selkirk design company, and Hendricks Architecture, working on many high end and luxury homes in the Sandpoint, Sagle, Idaho Club, Schweitzer, and Priest Lake areas.

Wanting to collaborate more closely with progressive Clients that share a passion for a modern design ethos, Ed has founded and envisioned Modern Cabin Company to provide modern design services to create beautiful, practical and buildable homes for every budget. Ed is completely involved in every project, every step of the way from concept to completion.
